She is preceded by her husband of 53 years, Julian Reyes, her six children are Jaime (Alicia), Yolanda Moran, Manny (Rita), Mary (Fernando), Alice Glover (Steve), and Jose Luis (Diana). She was preceded in death by her parents, Fabian and Maria Beltran, and grandson, Bobby Joe Moran. Also, she is survived by three sisters, Sabitas, Concepcion, and Maria Teresa. Because of her open heart and love for all, she will be sorely missed by ALL her grandchildren: Yvette, Veronica, Jimmy, Tony, Adrian, Michael, Jesus Julian, Steven Jr., Robin, Anthony, Jennifer, Albert, Joanne, Christopher, Mikaela, Isaac, Tristan, Alfonso Julian, and Ariana, as well as her many great-grandchildren.
Born on May 24, 1929, Maria, daughter of a crop farmer, grew up in a small farming village— “La Laguna”, in Camargo, Mexico. She would grow up in a strict, traditional Mexican home—with the expectation of marriage and raising a family. As a young woman, she would come to form a close bond with Julian Reyes-- who grew up close by, in the same ranching community. At the age of 24, Maria would marry Julian and migrate to El Paso where she would start her new life. Maria would go on to successfully raise six children—Jaime, Yolanda, Manuel, Mary, Alicia, and Jose Luis. As a mother, she sacrificed everything for her children—always putting the needs of her children first. Maria was an exemplary mother—raising her children with the best of care. Her love and guidance allowed her children to become successful adults. As Grandchildren arrived into her life, she became the Greatest of Grandmothers—giving them her love and devotion. Maria is best characterized by her open heart and bottomless supply of love. She gave love to all that knew her—through her kindness, tolerance for life’s challenges, and generous hospitality. Maria was deeply spiritual—she was a lifelong member of San Jose Catholic Church. She believed in the power of prayer and actively prayed the Rosary with her family. God was by her side her entire life. Maria Reyes was not famous or publicly accomplished, but her impact on the Reyes family will forever be felt and carried in the hearts of all she touched. We, her children and family members, thank her for being the family pillar and always being there for us.
