Maria A Ortega

It is with immense sorrow that we share that Agueda Torres Ortega, took her last breath on earth and was called to our Lord on Sunday August 7th 2022. Agueda was born to the late Jesus Maria Sanchez and Patricio Torres in San Bernardo, Durango. She was a teacher in San Bernardo, Durango where she met Doming Ortega. They later married and immigrated to the United States in 1950. They settled in El Paso where they lived until her death on August 7, 2022. She was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was an empathetic and compassionate human being. Our mother had a fierce dedication to those with the fewest resources and those whose voices often go unheard. She loved her church Christo Rey, her family, and her garden. She selflessly sacrificed all for the happiness of others in her life. Her courage, humor and strength will remain with all that had the privilege of meeting and knowing her.

She is survived by her 11 children, Irma Ortega-Bejar, Francisco Ortega, Guillermina Ortega, Margarita Ortega-Boyce, Rebeca Ortega-Gallagher, Samuel Ortega, Alfonso Ortega, Emma Ortega-Morales, Maria de Jesus Ortega, Elena Ortega-Hernandez and Marina Torres-Ortega. Agueda leaves behind 17 grand- children, 23 great grand- children and 5 great-great grand-children. She was, and forever will remain, our rock.

Agueda was surrounded by her family and loved ones in her final days. She left this world peacefully.

Services as follows:

• Viewing and Rosary - Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Drive, Monday, August 15th from 5 to 9 p.m.

• Mass - Cristo Rey Church, 8011 Williamette Ave., Tuesday, August 16th at 10 a.m.

• Burial following the mass at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.
