Lucia was born in Los Rodriguez, Guanajuato Mexico on September 9, 1940 to Soledad Sanchez Araiza and Miguel Araiza Arpeaga. She was 1 of 8 children.
As a child Lucia helped her grandparents at their ranch. Later in life she worked at a library at Colegio La Paz in Delicias, Chihuahua. Finally, she moved to El Paso, Tx, where she met her El Paso family, the Mayorgas. Nana found her calling in caring for children. She was a second mother to Joseph Mayorga in whom nana adored and saw him as her own. In time her “Josecito” grew up, married, and started a family of his own. His children were her “grandchildren”.
Nana dedicated 38 years of her life to caring for her adopted family Joseph Sr., Margarita, and Joseph Jr. Mayorga. She also cared for Margarita’s father, Carlos as she referred to him, when he needed help. We are broken hearted with her loss. Nana was a mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and a confidant to all of us. Friends described her as a beautiful, loving, sweet person with a kind smile.
Nana became ill in April of this year. Hospitalizations were numerous and Lucia always looked forward to coming home. At home she was cared for by Roselia “Rosie” Mandujano. We are all grateful to her for the loving care she gave Nana. They developed a special friendship.
As we bid farewell to you, precious Nana, know that you will forever live in our hearts. We thank you for being our angel on Earth and we know you are already taking care of us from above. As “Josecito” always said, “Te quiero mucho mi Nanita.” Adios, hasta que nos vuelvamos a ver.
A visitation for Lucia will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. A vigil will occur Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79936. A funeral mass will occur Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills Blvd, El Paso, Texas 79936. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 19, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
