On January 13, 2023, Josefina (Josie) de la Fuente, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Born to Josefina Casas de la Fuente and Rene Joaquin de la Fuente, she was an El Paso native with a true love for her city. Josie graduated from Jesus and Mary High School and went on to attend the University of Texas at El Paso where she received her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. She later attended the Southwestern Paralegal Institute in Houston, Texas. Josie began her career as a Paralegal for the law firm of Grambling and Mounce in 1985 and in 1992, joined the Office of General Counsel for El Paso Electric Company. At El Paso Electric Company, she completed over thirty years of service as a Paralegal turned Principal Compliance Specialist. Josie also served as a previous board member for the Child Crisis Center of El Paso.
Josie had a love for making any experience fun whether this was laughing with family in her living room or dancing in the streets of San Miguel de Allende to Mariachi music. She was an avid traveler. Josie believed this world was far more than just beauty to be seen in photos, but adventures to experience and cherish in your memories. Her light-hearted spirit and contagious laugh could brighten the mood of anyone around her. Josie was truly a light that could never be dimmed. Her strength and bravery that she maintained in the toughest of times was more admirable than could ever be put into words. Josie was smart, kind, witty, and radiated positivity. A conversation with Josie could go on for hours but feel like only minutes. She had an open mind and welcoming ears to anyone who had something to say.
As a wife she was loving, supportive, and a best friend. As a mother she could be described as a home personified; a peaceful presence that was protective and nurturing. She was an extremely loving mother. As successful and dedicated as she was to her career, she never made her daughters short of her first priority. Josie was a safe haven to those closest to her. A devoted and adoring Mimi, her grandson fueled her life for the past four and a half years. Her siblings always remained dear to heart, she treasured and loved her nieces and nephews. She was a loving and loyal friend. Josie valued her friendships; she always treated her close friends as though they were her own family.
Mom, while our time with you was cut far too short, we lean on our faith and hope of seeing you again someday. We are thankful for the blessing of knowing and loving you. Your values and ideals will continue to be the lessons that shape us. Your memory will live on for many years to come. We love you mom. Rest peacefully.
Josie is preceded in death by her loving parents Josefina and Rene Joaquin de la Fuente. She is survived by husband Adrian Martinez, daughters Megan and Hanna Langford, step-daughters Alezandra and Alyssa Martinez, her grandson Bryson Munoz, her brothers Rene (Menira) and John (Debbie) de la Fuente, her sister Roseanne (Victor) de la Fuente Rueda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
