Our beloved Jo Ann Lugo Martinez passed away after a short illness on November 8, 2022, at the age of 58 with her children by her side. Jo Ann was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was patient in all things and was always willing to bring in a stray dog roaming around the neighborhood. Jo Ann was born and raised in El Paso and spent almost her entire life here. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1982 and played bass clarinet in the band and was selected Drum Majorette in her senior year. She was an active member in the LULAC Youth Council.
Jo Ann had many passions and was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers football team and spent many Sundays watching them on TV with her Dad. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved going on trips with all of them and she always prayed for their wellbeing and health. Before passing, Jo Ann cared for her 96-year-old mother, Carmen Lugo and was always so kind, patient, and loving towards her. She will be remembered by her loving way and bright smile and will be greatly missed by everyone who's lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alfredo G. Lugo and is survived by her mother Carmen, daughter Christina (Christy) Sanchez (Javier), son Richard, daughter Josephine (Josie), grandsons Javier Jr. and Nicholas, granddaughter Gabriela, brother Alfred Lugo (Rosanna), and sister and best friend Mary Ann Phillips (Mark) and many nieces and nephews.
