Javier was a retired educator in Counseling and Guidance with the El Paso Independent School District. He attended Aoy Elementary, and is a graduate of Bowie High School. Javier, joined the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and is part of The Chosen Reservoir. Once out of the service, Javier went on to East Texas State University to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business. Upon returning to El Paso, Javier attended the University of Texas at El Paso to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. In 1972 Javier received a Masters of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque.
He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bowie Alumni Association, Chairman of the Scholarship, co-founded of the Bowie Booster Club, nominated Outstanding Bowie Ex, known as "Mr Crockett" at Crockett Elementary/Middle School, nominated Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Counselor of the Year by the Trans Pecos Association for Counseling and Guidance. Javier enjoyed his involvement in the community.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Teresa Diaz, daughters Rita Trevino and Delia Diaz, son-in-law Gilbert Trevino, his grandson Steven Gilbert Trevino and granddaughter Ashley Nicole Trevino.
Visitation from 5:00-9:00pm, Rosary at 7:00pm, will be held Wednesday, November 4, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas. Burial with full military honors will be held Thursday, November 5, at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
