It is with a heavy heart that we must say goodbye to Babbit. We have so many happy, laugh-out-loud memories that we will cherish them forever.  Babbit's sense of humor is surpassed by no one and has left a permanent mark in our hearts and on our very souls and thankfully, we will carry within us for eternity. Babbit's influence also impacted our son, Brian's life too, as babysitter! Babbit would take him to the New West Saloon late at night, give him a pile of quarters to play pool and "make him behave". After a particularly tiring work session, he fell asleep on the sofa face down at about 7 AM. The only way hungry Brian could wake him was to load a pellet gun with dry dog food! Babbit called, screaming to come get your son and "I mean this very second!!"  Years later, Brian earned his sharpshooter badge during his service in the Marine Corp; clearly his target practice paid off at the expense of poor Babbit's behind.  Babbit tells this story particularly well! We laughed so hard, we all had stomach aches after. Thank you, Babbit, for giving us belly-laughs-for-life and the tummy aches that follow. These are gifts we will cherish forever, over and over again.
Babbit, you are a great friend; we are so very happy to have you in our lives, hearts, and souls. Life is better with people like you in it. "A Babbit's gotta do what a Babbit's gotta do!" We can still hear your voice saying those very words!

My dad Richard Bencomo was very close to Babbit, and the entire family.  I remember as a little girl going to their house with our dad.  Babbit was more like an uncle to us.  I will never forget him.  

Babbit was sort of a stand in dad at times being so close with my Uncle Bobby. 20+ years ago my uncle would have his daughter visit for the summer and all four of us would have a blast together! We would spend our summer days going to the movies, the zoo, baseball games, you name it! Babbit once put me on his shoulders so I wouldn’t get jealous that my cousin was on my uncles shoulders at the zoo. I about choked him with my legs til he almost passed out I never wanted to get down! He was a sweet man to a little girl. I’ll never forget him. 

My condolences and prayers to the entire family. I have very fond memories when I was a kid of all the Goldsmiths hanging with my family, especially  Babbit and Marlon and my aunts Sandy and Shirley. Very good times at my grandmas house on Christopher street. Along with my first rides on a Harley, as they always made time for us little kids😊
