It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ibrahim “Abraham” Makhoul who fell asleep in death on November 20, 2024. He was 86 years old and was born in Rahbeh, Akkar, Lebanon. He is survived by his infinitely patient and compassionate wife of 53 years, Helene; his son, George and his daughter, Jamily. He also had one granddaughter, Andrea and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Elias, John and Samira.
Abraham was affectionately referred to as a “teddy bear” by his children. But he had another nickname, which he gave himself—“The Champ.” He enjoyed playing cards and was very good at it. Right before winning a match he would tell the scorekeeper to “put down a happy face” next to his score. Then he’d enthusiastically slam the winning card on the table. He also enjoyed his weekend breakfasts and excursions with his son and nephews. A little sweet with his coffee or a plate of huevos rancheros were his go to.
He endured many challenging times in his life. Despite them all, he had a strong faith in the Bible, which was instilled in him by his maternal grandmother. We want his family and friends to remember the good times, the laughs and how tough he was. We look forward to seeing him when he is happy, healthy and handsome again.
Visitation for Abraham will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM followed by Abraham's funeral service from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Funeraria del Angel-Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Burial immediately to follow in Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Rd., Sunland Park, NM 88063.
