Humberto G. Aguilar, 75, a beloved father, brother and friend, passed away August 1, 2016 at his home in El Paso, Texas. He was gentle and adored, perfect descriptors of a man who touched so many lives. Humberto — or “Bert” — was a devoted schoolteacher who proudly served EPISD for 38 years, the majority of those at Canyon Hills Middle School. Decades after leaving his classroom, former students would recognize Humberto and pour affection on the man who taught them so much. Humberto was also a renaissance man. He was a business owner and importer known for his generosity with the piñateros in Ciudad Juárez. He was a singer, lauded in the border’s entertainment district for his soulful voice. He was an actor and studied at The Pasadena Playhouse. His handsome presence graced playhouses in El Paso as a member of the Sun City’s “Los Pobres” acting troupe. And he sure knew how to tango – so well that he was an instructor at the famed Arthur Murray dance studio. Humberto embodied the border culture he grew up loving. He never missed an election and was well-versed in the affairs of Ciudad Juárez, Texas and beyond. He donated to several charities including St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Operation Smile. Born in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, he later attended Sacred Heart in El Paso, and subsequently graduated from Cathedral High School and Texas Western University, (UTEP). Humberto was passionate about fathering the children he adored: Humberto Enrique, 45, Gabriela Alejandra, 39, and Julián Ignacio, 38. Though they divorced in 1981, he never stopped loving the mother of his children, Estela Balderamma. And she never left his side during the final years of his life. Humberto is preceded in death by his parents, Ygnacio C. Aguilar and Maria C. Aguilar; and brothers, Salvador, Carlos and Marcelo. He is survived by brothers Armando and Sergio, Ms. Balderrama, his children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 7:00pm at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave.,
