Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm with Vigil at 11:00am, Thursday, August 18, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue. Funeral Mass will follow Thursday at 12:30pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. Clark Dr. with Committal service at 2:00pm at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4848 Alps.
Henry was born in El Paso to Gustavo and Cuca Castro on July 12, 1926. He graduated from Bowie High School. Henry married Margarita Carreon on November 22, 1953. Following his marriage to the love of his life, he worked for American Airlines until he retired after 31 years. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Navy starting at age 17. Henry was a volunteer at Sierra Medical Center, the Bowie Alumni, and church organizations, including the Knights of Columbus Council 2592.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Gustavo and Cuca Castro, and his beloved Aunt Carmen Valenzuela.
Henry is survived by his wife Margarita Castro, Son Henry Castro Jr. (Cyndi), Grandson David Castro (Jasmin), Brother Gustavo Castro (Veronica), Sisters Conchita Diaz (Karl), Irene Smerigan, and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Castro, Hector Diaz, Rick Diaz, Pete Diaz Jr, Gus Castro Jr, and Bobby Castro.
The family of Henry Castro Sr. wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the doctors, nurses, hospice workers, and caregivers who assisted and tended to Henry’s needs. A very special thank you to the nurses and staff at Da Vita West Dialysis Center in Fox Plaza.
