Glen Lee Wood, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
Glenn was born in Silver City, New Mexico on March 28, 1949. He attended elementary school in Rodeo, New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. Glenn was a 1967 graduate of Bel Air High School in El Paso, Texas and a 1971 graduate of Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas with a B.S. degree. While at Sul Ross, Glenn served as secretary for the student association and was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda, a national fraternity.
Glenn was a history teacher at Riverside High School from 1971 to 1977. While at Riverside, Glenn was also a drivers ed instructor during the summer breaks. Glenn then went on to graduate from the United States Border Patrol in 1978 where he began his 30 year career serving in El Paso, Texas. Glenn loved serving in the Border Patrol serving in various capacities, including as an Asset Forfeiture Officer, retiring in 2007. After his retirement from the Border Patrol, Glenn worked for Wackenhut (formerly G4S) and was a bus driver for Sun Metro.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents Everett Lee and Rachel Lorraine Wood. He is survived by his wife of 23 years Patricia, stepdaughter Lisa Malone (Steven), stepson David Zapanta, grandson Devon Soto as well as sisters Susan Parks (Dirk), Linda Wood and brothers Jack (Sue) and Robert Wood. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Glenn’s remains will be laid to rest at a later date at Restlawn Cemetery, 4848 Alps, El Paso, Texas. Funeral services provided by Martin Funeral Home, 128 N. Resler Dr. A celebration of life will be held for all family and friends wishing to get together after the graveside service, at La Posta Restaurant in Old Mesilla, New Mexico.
