RAMIREZ, Gilberto, born to Emigdio and Amanda Ramirez, both deceased on July 4, 1928, in San Elizario, Texas. He graduated from El Paso Tech in 1951 under the GI Bill of Rights with a printing certificate, whose printing instructor was Mr. William Van Gasbeeck the best and only teacher in those days. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, served aboard the U.S.S. McCook, DMS 36 and NUB at Adak, in the Aleutian Islands. He was a Union Printer, ITU #370 from the El Paso Times, from where he retired after over 36 years of service. He served in various committees mainly Executive and Apprentice Committees and held various positions including Local Chairman and Sgt. at Arms. He was preceded in death by his faithful and loving wife of over 36 years, Ofelia G. Ramirez. He is survived by his wife Lucia; children, Guillermo, Martha and Yvette; several grandsons and granddaughters and nieces and nephews; brothers, Raul, Oscar; sisters, Lidia, Ruth, and Dolores. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
