George Zubiate, adoring grandfather, husband, and father, peacefully passed away at home on October 26 th. He was surrounded by the love of his family in the last days of his life. Born in El Paso, Texas to Sam & Maria Zubiate, he was the youngest of three children. George graduated from El Paso High School and always loved his alma mater. He primarily worked in clothing manufacturing and politics, but always maintained a fluency surrounding his various interests such as music, theatre, history, geography, and sports. George met his wife of 57 years, Gloria, in El Paso and together they raised one daughter, Sarah, and reared her with a tenacity for education, music, politics, sports and self-development. George was predeceased by his sister, Josephine and his brother, Fernando. He leaves behind his wife, Gloria Zubiate; his daughter, Sarah Zubiate Bennett; son-in-law, Monty Bennett; and grandchildren Louis Darrouzet, Liliana Darrouzet, Jack Bennett, and Luke Bennett. Thank you to the caregivers from Visiting Angels and Accent Care who cared for him in his final days, especially Silvia Martinez. He will always remain in our hearts.
A visitation and breakfast will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, at 9:30AM at Martin Funeral Home East located at 1460 George Dieter Dr. El Paso, TX 79936. A Vigil will begin at 11:00am. A Graveside Service for George will immediately follow at Restlawn Cemetery at 12:30 pm located at 4848 Alps El Paso, Texas, 79904.
