George is survived by his spouse, Rebecca Ann Reyes; his daughter Emily Kathrine Reyes; and his son Samuel Theodore Reyes; his sister Helen Schmid, his sister Rebecca Reyes and his sister Christine Reyes Rago; his granddaughter Olivia Reyes Pioquinto, his granddaughter Lilyana Reyes and his grandson Ethan Reyes.
George graduated from Austin High School in 1971. He enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an avionics tech aboard the USS Midway during the Vietnam Conflict. His travels took him to Atsugi, Japan where he met the love of his life, Becky. They swiftly married in Tokyo and were married for 47 years. He often reflected on what a miracle it was that they traveled around the world to find each other. They returned to El Paso where he pursued his career in avionics and worked at GUS Engineering, and at White Sands with Lockheed Martin and Newtec, where he retired from. George loved many things and coached youth soccer teams while enjoying Emily and Sam growing up. He loved the Beatles, his sisters his nephews and nieces, Mike and Tommy De La Fuente, Nicky and Gabe Bombara and Samantha and Nico Rago. He was always ready to share himself with all of us. George had insight and saw the world in ways that helped us all. In the past several years he suffered from service-related Parkinson’s disease and showed us how to be brave and accept and appreciate love and life. Even in his passing he earned our admiration for his grace and strength as our Happy Warrior. His spirit is so strong, he will be with us always. In his own words “Fare thee well” George on your journey to light and happiness.
