Elvira Licon

Elvira Silva Licon, 97, joined our Lord on Sunday, April 17, 2016. Elvira was born on May 18, 1918 to Edmundo and Elvira Felix Silva. Attended Morehead and graduated from Palmore Business College in 1937. Retired from Popular Dry Goods after 37 years of service. Married Jose Licon on October 31, 1947. “Nana” was known as a doting grandmother to all of her grandkids. She was a member and volunteer at the Hilos de Plata Senior Center. She enjoyed casinos, playing bingo, socializing with friends, and was voted Hilos de Plata Valentine’s Queen. Elvira is survived by her children, Wanda Solis (Vernon); Sandra Tims (John); and Jose Luis Licon (Lucy). Grandchildren; Jose Luis Licon, Jr.; Vernon Solis II (Janna); Kimberly Gomez (Ramiro); Paul Licon (Saehee); Patrick Solis (Marissa); John Tims Jr.; and Matthew Solis (Kristin). Great-grandchildren; Madison and Kennedy Solis, Jacob and Matthew Gomez, Jordan and Juliet Solis, and A.J. Solis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose as well as all seven of her brothers and sisters. Special thank you to the staff of Vista Hills Care Center. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., with a Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Hillcrest Funeral Home East, 1060 North Carolina Drive. Scripture Service will be held at Hillcrest at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2006. “Nana” will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 N. Zaragoza, El Paso, TX.
