Earl Lewis Garven, 86, passed away, December 3, 2011, in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Los Angeles, California, April 15, 1925 to Earl Lloyd Garven and Cordelia Swihart Garven, but moved to El Paso shortly after his birth. He attended Ysleta High School and Pasadena College (CA). He served in submarine duty in the US Navy during WWII and worked for the US Postal Service for 44 years in El Paso. After retirement, he traveled the world with his loving wife and was also a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He was an active member of the Church of Nazarene and a participant at Western Hills United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorris Brewer Garven; sister, Corrine Garven Wall; and son, David Lloyd Garven. Survivors include his son, Richard, daughter-in-law, Patricia, and granddaughter, Karen. The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Branch Craige and the staff of White Acres Good Samaritan Retirement Village. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Private interment will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery by the family.
