

Guido Alan Barrientos died at his home on July 26, 2012. He was 80. A clinical psychologist and Professor Emeritus at University of Texas at El Paso, Barrientos taught at UTEP from 1963 to 1998. In private practice, he provided psychological services for individuals in the El Paso-Juarez region, as well as members of the military. He also worked closely with the Texas Dept. of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, the Juvenile Probation Department, Community Options, Inc., the El Paso Independent School District, and El Paso Human Services, Inc. among many other organizations.
Barrientos is survived by his wife Roselia; two children, Carlo and Tanya; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Dylan; and two brothers Sergio and Tomas of Guatemala. The family would like to give special thanks to VNA Hospice of El Paso.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Psychology Department Program Fund at UTEP.
