Carlos was born and raised in El Paso, TX. He received his Electrical Engineering Degree from Texas Western College (UTEP).Upon graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army. Carlos was stationed at Yuma Proving Ground and later transferred to White Sands Missile Range to assist his parents in El Paso. After his military service, he continued to work at the Range where he worked on various missile and target systems, among them the Patriot, Chaparral, Redeye, Hawk and SP Hawk systems; he also served temporarily in Germany and Florida for special testing. He was the Project Manager for the Japanese Forces testing missile systems at White Sands Missile Range and received many commendations for his work from the Japanese government.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Angela T. Ortega. He is survived by his loving children Marc S. Ortega, Krista A. Ortega and Carl A. Ortega; his loving brother Francisco “Pancho” Ortega, Jr., and sister-in-law, Olga; and his closest cousin which was like a sister to him, Isela Gonzales. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Austin and Andrew Ortega, daughter-in-law Tahna, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
Pallbearers are sons, Marc and Carl Ortega, brother- Francisco, nephews Frank and Mando Ortega and son-in-law Robert Hyland. Honorary Pallbearer is Jerry Pena.
