Carlos Macias, a beloved husband, father and grandfather was lost to Alzheimer’s Disease on March 18th at the age of 83. A member of the 1949 Bowie Bear Baseball team, whom with his teammates overcame adversity and were crowned State Champions. After leaving his mark on El Paso and the Hispanic Community, Carlos went on to leave his country as a member of the prestigious 82nd Airborne Infantry Division in the United States Army. His legacy will live on in his family’s hearts and the city’s spirit. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Macias, daughters, Dolores Vargas (Miguel), Susie Esparza (Manuel), son Carlos Macias Jr., (Mirella) , 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. with the Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 24, 2014 at 9:15 A.M. at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church. Interment at Ft. bliss National Cemetery.
