Bobbie Hondo

On May 31, 2022, Bobbie Hondo (Robert Anthony Anchondo) was reunited with many of the angels that watched over her as she carved her vision in this world. She was born on May 31, 1994, in El Paso, TX, to the Honorable Robert S. and Maria A. Anchondo. She is survived by her siblings Noemi Hernandez, OJ Hernandez, Stephanie Renee Anchondo (Dr. Louie Tinoco Jr.) and Godparents Dr. Eddie and Monica Castaneda. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces Andrew, Jacob, Sophia, and Camila. A three-year graduate of Eastwood High School, her passion was dance and the performing arts. Bobbie showcased her many talents in local venues through the El Paso Youth Ballet and starred as “The Nutcracker.” Bobbie was one of five out of 200 performers to be selected to attend the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company in Seattle, WA at the youthful age of 15. As a visionary of her time, she made her way to New York to enroll at St. John’s University and then transferred to Parsons School of Design earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Graphic Design.

As described by her close friend and those who loved her, “Bobbie Hondo was a gleaming example of fearlessness, perseverance, kindness, empathy, creativity, intelligence, and wit. Yet would hate to be defined. She was a trailblazer with pure star power, constantly transforming in a perpetual metamorphosis.” Bobbie was an iconic performer from the very start and worked a room with her dexterous cleverness encompassing humor, compassion, charisma, and resiliency. Using her colorful creativeness, Bobbie worked on many projects through photography, videography, tapestry, and production. Anyone and everyone who crossed paths with Bobbie could immediately feel her magnetic personality as a woman of aptitude. Bobbie was determined to find her identity and belonging in this world, finding herself in NYC, where she found solace in a community of the Queens – Queens who helped Bobbie shape her creativity and the possibility of taking it to the furthest distance. Her independence, unmatched energy, beaming with life spirit and candor, embraced her community. She utilized her voice to provide the impulse, her experiences and determination to advocate for reframing the reality of the issues that impacted her community. Bobbie stood as a symbol of light, inspiration and strength for all humans, in a world conflicted to find equality, free of fear and shame.

We would be remiss if we did not mention that Bobbie was a connoisseur of fine champagne, with an appetite for traveling the world, and a penchant for music from the 60’s. The Mamas and Papas, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young helped shape her; while she was also inspired by Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Selena. Bobbie’s free spirit and timeless soul will forever be imprinted in the hearts of those that were fortunate to have crossed her path. A Veuve Clicquot Champagne toast, to you Bobbie, as you have finally found your peace – dancing on bottles.

Funeral services for Bobbie will be on Friday, June 10, 2022 with Vigil starting at 11:00 AM with funeral mass to follow at 12:00 PM at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 10970 Bywood Dr. El Paso, TX. 79936.
