He wrapped him in his loving arms, And whispered, "Come with me."
He'd suffered much in silence, His spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage,
Until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us,
His battle not in vain.
God took him to his Glorious Home,
And freed him from his pain.
Our father, Alfonso A. Matamoros (Poncho, Matt), 79,
passed away peacefully at his home on May 4, 2016.
He was preceeded in death by his mother Raymunda
Matamoros and his brother Pedro Lujan.
Alfonso served his country in the US Air Force,
and worked for the US Postal Service for 44 years.
He loved his family and was an avid Miner fan who
supported his kids, grandkids, & great-grandkids in
all of their endeavors.
Alfonso is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elisa; son Alfonso
Matamoros Jr. (Araceli), daughters Elisa M Pedroza (Frank), Sylvia
M Pulido-Cabral (Frank), and Sandra Matamoros-St.Martin (Gene).
Eight grandchildren: Angela and Frank Pedroza Jr., Amanda P Rios,
Sebastian & Jacqueline Pulido, Ema & Alexa Espinoza, and Yolari
Matamoros. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
Our father was loved by all who knew him, his kind and gentle heart will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00-9:00pm with a Celebration of Life at 7:00pm at F.D.A. Martin East. Visitation Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:00-12pm at F.D.A. Martin East. Commital Service with U.S. Air Force Honors at 1:00pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to F.D.A.
