Alex G. Pérez passed away on September 19, 2024. He was born December 3, 1935, in Rosenberg, TX, the son of Jesus Pérez and Dolores (Gonzales) Flores. Alex, who barely had three years of primary school, eventually became fluent in English by self study, with his mother, both of whom had a God given talent for intelligence and learning. He received his GED in the Army and when he retired, he went to college on the GI Bill attaining a bachelor’s in Sociology. Education was very important to Alex, compelling children and grandchildren to pursue higher education. They lived a life of learning, in and out of school. He was selected to serve at Headquarters, United States Army, Europe ((USAREUR), because of his outstanding race relations/Equal Opportunity work in the 2nd Support Command ,VII Corps. He was commended for his ability to articulate and problem solve in Race Relations/Equal Opportunity situations.

Alex was a very passionate man for justice, fairness, and equality and education. His gregarious and engaging personality would instigate many thought provoking conversations amongst his family, friends, and peers. Alex married Ruth Rodriguez and had three children. He then married Martina Moreno and had one daughter. He finally married the one he was waiting for, Irene Chavarría, whom he was with for 48 years, married 44 years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Miguel and sister Amelia Peña.
He is survived by his wife Irene, his son Eric (Jan), Tina Glemba (Jeff), Janet Lykos (Tony), Vanessa Villarreal (Jesus), 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Alejandro will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a vigil at 11:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903.
Funeral mass will be Tuesday, October 1st at 12:30 PM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903 with interment to follow in Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, Texas 79906.
