He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. William Marion Holder and Gertrude Foster Holder, two sisters, Melba Lampkins and Nell Walters, two brothers, Hollis and Grover, his first wife, Faye Neighbors Holder and his second wife, Hilda Cameron Holder.
Homer was born November 8, 1925 in Wesson, AR to Mrs. and Mrs. W.M. Holder. After graduating from Junction City High School and spurning two athletic scholarships, one to A & M in Magnolia and one to Louisiana Tech, he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad for which he loved and was proud to work for 42 years. He later went to work for Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Minnesota and Guardsmark Security both in Minnesota and El Dorado. After which, he picked up the game of golf and played until the age of 93.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Norris of Atlanta, GA, four children, Latricia Crace (Dan) of Springfield, MO, Michelle Lang (Ronnie) of El Dorado, AR, Alicia Collins of Elk River, MN and William Holder of El Dorado, AR, two step daughters, Sandra Dorman (Bobby) of Colorado Springs, CO and Jo Ellen Nall of Lubbock, TX, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Young's Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Frist Assembly of God Church with Pastor Chris Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
