Mabel Ruth Moore, 91, died March 26, 2015, in El Dorado, AR with her family by her side. Born on October 19, 1923 in Spearsville, Louisiana, she is preceded in death by her parents, John Harmon and Mattie Rockett Elkins, her husband, Murray Moore, a son, Joe Elkins Moore, and siblings Eldred Elkins, Eloise Elkins, John Elkins and Mary Louise Beene.
She is survived by her children, Jim Moore (Judy) of El Dorado, Linda Kean (Bob) of Colorado Springs, CO, and David Moore (Carolyn) of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Monica Moore Nash (Brian), Marla Moore Finley (Scott), Chris Kean, Melissa Kean, Michael Moore (Sarah), Matt Moore, Kevin Moore, Kyle Moore, Julie Moore, and seven great grandchildren.
Mabel Ruth graduated from Spearsville High School and then attended Louisiana Tech University, before moving to El Dorado at the age of 17 to work for the phone company. She met Murray on a bus headed to Louisiana Tech. They were married on July 29, 1943, in Bernice, Louisiana and were married for 60 years.
Mabel Ruth worked with Murray at their business, Moore’s Home Supply Center, designing many new construction homes in the area. She was a talented decorator who turned many houses into homes for residents of El Dorado. She joined First Baptist Church in 1947 and was a devoted member and secretary of the Mary Sunday School Class. She was also an active participant in Prime Timers and the Prayer Ministry Team. She was an avid basketball fan, especially of Louisiana Tech and the Utah Jazz. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a passionate reader, enjoyed reading a variety of genres and shared her books with friends and family.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00-6:00 at Young’s Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, March 29, at First Baptist Church, El Dorado, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
