Born February 12, 1952 in Camden. AR, he was the son of James Ralph and Betty Eubank Presley. Jim was the owner of Hoss Power Distributors and a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Jim loved his family and friends fiercely. Always checking on them and “making his rounds”. Jim daily lived by James 1:27 “visiting the fatherless and widows in their affliction” delivering watermelons, newspapers, or to offer any assistance. If you were a friend of Jim, you knew he loved to talk and could “talk the horns off a steel headed billy goat.” Jim would take charge of a conversation and quickly let you know, “I’m petting this dog, you just hold its tail”. He loved to attend political functions, especially if he got his picture taken. Back in his younger days, if it moved or flew, he hunted it. Jim was an athlete, even held the record for the most free throws made at the Boys and Girls Club. In addition, he was an exceptional baseball player. Jim loved to shop, especially for shoes. He loved his Hey Dudes and boots. On another note, Jim did not have a lot of patience; especially when driving, often commenting that the person in front of him was “walking and carrying their car”. Because he cared about his community and the people of Union County, he took seriously the candidate he supported that would best serve the citizens. When he saw someone doing something odd, he commented “they don't know if they're smacking or popping”. In case you didn’t know, Jim had a huge heart of gold, and will leave a big hole in the hearts of many.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a nephew, Shayne Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janet Sinclair Presley, one sister, Peggy Presley Martin (Terry) of El Dorado and a brother, Mark Presley of Smackover, AR. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Carolyn Riddle and her husband Robbie of Childersburg, AL along with nephews; Chad Martin (Kim) of Camden, Jason Sinclair (Ashley) of Hot Springs and Kurt Sinclair (Abbie) of Hattiesburg, MS and great niece, Presley Martin and great nephew, Landon Morgan.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Parkview Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Sandy and Bro. Ken Overton officiating. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
