She was born February 28, 1936, in Lawhon, LA, to Claude Franklin White, Sr. and Evelyn Coulson White. Preceding her in death along with her parents was a son, Thomas Lane Reeves and a daughter Ellen Elizabeth Reeves Dyck. She is survived by her husband, Byron Lane Reeves; two daughters, Patricia Reeves Sewell and her husband Jean of El Dorado, and Amanda Jane Mosley and her husband Scott of Lancaster, SC; one sister, Lady Jane White Patton of Zwolle, LA, and two brothers, Edward Hewitt White and Claude Franklin White, Jr. both of Heflin, LA. Surviving grandchildren are Leah Marie Lee and her husband Robert and Asa Jean Sewell and his wife Danielle; Byron Tyler Pierot and his wife Mary Kate, and Mary Katherine Pierot. She has three surviving great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Reeves was a homemaker and active church member at Caledonia Baptist Church where she served as the organist for 25 years. She found great joy in preparing weekly church meals with her life-long friend Maifred Donahue. And one of the greatest joys of her last years was her great-grandchildren Ava and Crewson Lee, and Asa Jean Sewell, Jr. born on August 12, 2015. She will be remembered for her love and service to Jesus Christ and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Whitlow officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. in Helflin, LA, at Bisteneau Baptist Church Cemetery with her cousin Richard Noles officiating.
