Carolyn Saulsbury

She was born December 22, 1938 in Union Parish, LA to Henry Thomas Rhodes and Celia Mae Yossett Rhodes. Carolyn graduated from Warner Brown School of Nursing in 1959. She worked as a RN at the Medical Center of South Arkansas where she served as director of the nursery and neonatal unit and went on to retire from the MCSA in 2002. She was on the Arkansas State Board of Nursing from 1996-1999 and served as president from 1998-1999 of those years. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church of Smackover.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her brother, Ben Colvin Rhodes.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Lewis Charles “Pete” Saulsbury, Sr.; her children, Lewis Charles “Chuck” Saulsbury (Leslie), Lori Eakin (Danny), Jason Saulsbury (Jennifer); grandchildren, Crystal Boykin, Casey Saulsbury, Colby Saulsbury, Jared Eakin, Jase Saulsbury, Luke Saulsbury, Josh Saulsbury, Joleigh Saulsbury, Jesse Saulsbury; eight great grandchildren; and brothers Charles Rhodes, John Rhodes, Bobby Rhodes, Don Rhodes, Mike Rhodes and Pat Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Raymond Carneal officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home.
