Born November 4, 1926 in Leola, AR he was the son of Clifton Levoy, Sr. and Una Ford Parnell.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was his wife of 68 years, Joy Hudson Parnell, and his son Dr. Marc Parnell.
Mr. Parnell loved Psalm 23 and was baptized early at West Side Baptist Church in El Dorado and served as a deacon over the years. He and Joy loved serving with the people of these churches, especially FBC El Dorado, FBC Ruston and FBC Farmerville. Carlton loved the Lord and wants all you to follow him to heaven. He says “Come see me” by asking Jesus Christ to be your Savior, as he enjoys God where he is now. He has many brothers and sisters in the Lord from so many churches which have been a joy as he served.
He enjoyed playing quarterback for the El Dorado Wildcats in 1943-1944 after which he served in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He had also served in the Navy SeaBees, an elite group of personnel trained in both combat and the craft skills of the construction industry for the occupation of Guam in 1944-1945.
Carlton was a member of many churches as he followed plastic chemical manufacturing with Monsanto Chemical Company, Northern Petro Chemical and Enron Chemical as a shift foreman before his retirement. Carlton was an avid hunter and fisherman everywhere he lived and is famous for catching from D’Arbonne Lake, large-mouthed bass of over 7 pounds and Opelousas catfish of over 60 pounds and eating lots of trophy deer.
Survivors include his son, Joe Parnell (Becky) and two sisters, Vivanae Daniels and Nancy Parnell Gardner, his daughter-in-law, Patti Parnell and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Farmerville, LA with Rev. Kurt Auger officiating. Private interment services will be held later in Arlington Memorial Park in El Dorado.
