Born on June 26, 1932 in New London, AR; he was the son of Joe B and Mary Erma Black Turbeville who preceded him in death. He was an active member of College Avenue Church of Christ. Bobby Joe was a veteran serving in the Army’s 79th T-Port Company in Seattle, WA and Alaska during the Korean War. He attended Southern Arkansas University and University of Arkansas at Monticello where he studied Forestry. He retired after 46 years with Lion Oil; Bobby Joe had worked in every department of the Company in marketing, safety, refining and pipeline.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed raising miniature horses and he coached many baseball teams at the Boys and Girls Club. A caring person Bobby always supported the underdog and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors are his wife of 53 years Evelyn Wilkinson Turbeville, their children Cindy (Gary) Anzalone, Joey (Susan) Turbeville, John David (Amy) Turbeville, and Mary Ann Carruth all of El Dorado, sisters Mary Louise ‘Sugie’ Post and Sherry (Ray) Alexander all of Farmerville, La. Along with his grandchildren Paul Anzalone, Rachel Anzalone, Haley Anzalone, Emile Turbeville, Trey Turbeville, Leighton Turbeville, Hannah Turbeville, Katie Carruth and Dave Carruth, and caregivers Angie Narcisse, Joyce Avery and Martinea Aaron.
Interment will be at 10 am Monday, January 27, 2014 at Arlington Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 11 am at the College Avenue Church of Christ Family Life Center with Kent Jobe officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at Young’s Funeral Directors.
