He was born July 11, 1930, in Hartwell, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Dennis and Mary Mable Hammond Walker. He was manager at West Tree Service in El Dorado. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies at "Johnny B's"; fishing with James Goodwin and other friends.
Alvin served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict with Co D of the 701 Armored Infantry Battalion. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Medal and Korean Service medal with five campaign stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara Gayle Fields Walker, and his grandson, Austin Machen.
Surviving Alvin are his daughters Vicki (Jeff) Machen of El Dorado, Karla (Steve) Sluck of Westlake Village, California, a brother James Walker (Fleta) of Cave Springs, AR, his grandson, Cody Machen of El Dorado, and granddaughter, Madison Sluck of Denver, Colorado. He had three great-grands all of El Dorado, Mason, Savannah, and Georgia Machen.
