Vernice Pinachio (née Robertson), age 100, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on July 17, 2024, in La Mesa, California. Born on July 13, 1924, in Tucson, Arizona, Vernice was a cherished figure in her community and a pillar of strength for her family.
Vernice was a devoted wife to the late Francis “Frank” Pinachio, a loving mother to Linda and Michael (sp) McGrath, Jim and Cheryl (sp) Westfall, William and Glenna (sp) Pinachio, John and Tami (sp) Pinachio, and Patrice and Gary (sp)Slojkowski and was a doting grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her mother Mary Ethel Robertson, who also lived to her 100th birthday, her sister June Kendall, her brother Jack Robertson, and her grandson Kevin McGrath.
A devout Catholic, Vernice was a long-standing member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help for over 65 years; a church her beloved Frank helped build. Vernice found great solace and community in the church, with faith playing a significant role in her life, guiding her through its many phases with grace and perseverance.
When not caring for her family, Vernice loved to crochet, paint in oils, read, and one could often find her on a dance floor moving to her favorite music. Vernice was also known for her exceptional skills in the kitchen and for a longtime love of See's Candy! These pastimes brought great joy to her and those around her, filling family gatherings with warmth and love.
A Catholic memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, followed by a graveside service at El Cajon Cemetery with date and times pending. Dignity Memorial in El Cajon, California, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vernice's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family, her deep faith, and her zest for life, leaving behind a legacy of joy and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew her.
