Jessica Marie Lopez

Jessica Marie Lopez, age 43, of El Cajon, California entered into rest at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Grossmont Sharp Hospital. Jessica was born July 26, 1978 in La Mesa, California at Grossmont Sharp Hospital to Angela Sutherland and John Sutherland. She is the eldest of herself and her brother, Johnny Sutherland. Jessica met her husband, Pete Lopez, at Dick's Last Resort, 22 years ago. In 2010 they got married at Mt. Helix, with the reception in the backyard of their first house.

Jessica started her career at Rady Children's Hospital and then moved to Comprehensive Dermatology and worked there for 13 years. She loved her boss, Bari Cunningham, and all of her coworkers so very much.

Jessica and Pete had their first child, Sara, in May 2004. Two years later, the birth of their second child, Sean, was born in June 2006. Jessica loved being a mother. From going to all of Sara's soccer games, to all of Sean's baseball and lacrosse games, she didn't skip a beat. She was very supportive and encouraged them to do their best. She made sure her time was split even, and everything was fair. If Sara got a candy from the store, so did Sean. She was proud of their various accomplishments and goals they strived for.

Jessica loves crafts and party planning. She would have themes to each birthday party, and make sure to add intricate details such as centerpieces or labels on candy bowls to give it a more personal look. At her home she would decorate for every holiday, every season, and would have various Home Goods shopping trips if she needed new ones. Half of her husband's closet and the attic are her "store". Any decoration, birthday bags, glue, wrapping paper, basically anything in a craft store, she had. She made her house a home by taking care of it, and improving it day by day.

Jessica was a selfless, humble, kind, patient, loving wife, mother, and daughter. She made people feel important, and always knew how to cheer them up. Whenever she laughed she'd light up a room, she was one of the funniest people she knew. She will be missed by many.

Jessica is survived by her husband, Pete Y. Lopez, her daughter Sara M. Lopez, her son Sean M. Lopez, her father John Sutherland, her mother Angela Sutherland, and her brother John Sutherland III.

A viewing for Jessica will be held Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 AM at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020. At 1:00 PM will be her burial at Singing Hills Cemetery. We hope you can make it.
