Beloved brother and Marine Corps Veteran James Gordon (Jim) Himes passed away Saturday November 9, 2024 at his home in San Diego CA at the age of 65.
Jim was born in Colorado, in 1959, to Gilbert C. Himes and Letha I. Himes.
Jim’s parents and his precious canine pups preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by three brothers, Gilbert Himes, John Himes Sr. and Timothy Himes; And three sisters, Kathy Nichols, Karen Koon and Kristi Collins along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Jim was a Marine Corps Veteran who proudly served his country with duty stations that included Camp Pendleton CA and Japan. Jim worked many years as a Security Officer and Supervisor in the Imperial and San Diego Counties and shared amazing stories of his military and security service, proudly detailing events and fellow members who he felt enriched his life.
Jim spent part of his youth hiking across the Southwestern US with a friend, with whom he experienced many adventures that he later wrote entertaining stories about. Jim, an avid canine aficionado, loved his Pups who were his constant companions and friends and he will be joining them soon to continue their adventures.
He enjoyed camping in the desert and living off the land and is well known for helping those who needed a hand whenever he could, he is well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Celebration of Life Service and viewing will be held on 25 November from 4-8pm at the El Cajon Mortuary, 684 South Mollison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92020
Inurnment will be with full military honors at the Miramar National Veterans Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA on 29 November at 1:30 pm
