Barbara Jean Shaver (Suchy) was born on March 6, 1934, and passed away peacefully on April 17, 2023, in the comfort of her family and home. A true San Diego native, Bobbie took both her first and final breath in the city she knew best.
Shortly after graduating from Hoover High School in 1952, Bobbie met the love of her life, Kayedon Shaver at the State Theater in San Diego. Bobbie and Kayedon were married in 1956 and began their lives together in the northern California town of El Cerrito.
Bobbie and Kayedon were blessed with two children, Gregory and Penny. The two benefited immensely with Bobbie as their stay-at-home mother where she also played an active role in the children’s school - helping run the libraries and PTA.
Aside from being a loving mother, sister, daughter, and wife, Bobbie found great joy in traveling and gift-giving. Napa and “The Gold Country” were among her favorites to explore, with her loved ones often benefiting from unexpected gifts from her travels.
Many who knew and loved Bobbie described her as the true embodiment of what it meant to be a lady, soft, elegant, peaceful, and with a complete lack of pretense. Bobbie never met anyone who was not “a friend”. She is someone that will be missed by her friends and family but more so because she was a contributor to the gentler side of life for all who encountered her.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kayedon, her parents Elizabeth and John Suchy, and three of her sisters, Gwendolyn, Patricia, and Elizabeth. She is survived by her children Greg (Jenny) and her grandchildren, Sidney, Alexander, and Jordan. She is also survived by Greg(ory) and Penny.
