Bill will be remembered by his loving wife, Joan Knesh; his two daughters, Susan and Carolyn; his two sons, John and Earl; two step-sons, Graham and David and his 10 grandchildren, Gina, Andrea, Dylan, Colin, Adrian, Rory, Tait, Jaycee, Reid and Lucas.
Bill had a long and successful career beginning in Central Alberta and ending his retirement from Scona High School in 1991. He cherished his years as an educator and coach.
After his retirement he travelled extensively often to wilderness locations where he could indulge his love of the outdoor kayaking, canoeing, rafting, sailing and trekking.
As an avid fan of early jazz music, Bill often travelled to New Orleans for the jazz festival.
He loved all sports, especially basketball having coached it at the high school level for many years.
Many happy family memories were made at Jack Fish Lake where Bill could be found paddling around in his old Chestnut canoe.
Over a 25 year period Bill travelled intermittently to the Great Bear Rainforest in his quest for the elusive Spirit Bear. On his final trip to that region his dream was realized. He had found his Spirit Bear at last.
