It is with great great sadness that we share the passing of Paul Hibbeln. Paul was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather to his wife, Joan, his two children and their partners, Susan and Doug Woodliffe, David and Beth Hibbeln, and his grandson, Tallan.
Paul was born March 30th, 1930 in Wickede Ruhr, Germany and grew up with his parents, Maria and Paul, and his sister Krista. As a young man he immigrated to Canada in 1954 to begin a new life in this beautiful country. He married his love, Joan, and they raised their children in both British Columbia and Alberta. Paul’s career in the steel and pipe industry spanned 40 years before Paul retired in 1994 as plant manager for IPSCO.
Paul loved the outdoors and shared his love of fishing and camping with his family. He was an avid musician who played the bass trombone with the Cosmopolitan Club in Edmonton and also volunteered many hours there. Paul took great pride in his home where he loved to cook and create. He had a talent for making amazing scale models of both boats and planes. There was never a problem Paul could not solve if he put his mind, fabricating and handyman abilities to the test.
Paul was a beloved partner and parent, an active community member and an amazing human being. He will be sorely missed and will remain, with love, in our hearts.
