My sincere condolences to John and his family.  

John:  I was very sad to recently learn about the sudden passing of Mary Lynne.  On behalf of myself and my wife, Cheryl,  I offer our sincere condolences to you and your family.  Rich Miller  

Mary Lynn was such a beautiful soul. She had a way of making anyone she spoke to feel like they were special. She was welcoming and supportive and such an incredible light. She is missed. 

Sending so much love to all those who knew Mary Lynne, loved her, and miss her dearly. Her legacy lives on in her beautiful family and the example she was. I have known Mary Lynne for almost 30 years. She wanted me to hurry up and turn 50 so that we could curl in seniors together. Now I know what the hurry was. Missed it by less than a year. I cherish the time I had with Mary Lynne on and off the ice. I am going to miss our phone calls. I have been really guided to let people know how I feel about them since my Dad died. In the last few years I told Mary Lynne that I loved her. I think it made her a bit uncomfortable some times even though she was so affectionate and warm. I am so glad that I did though. Tuesday morning curling has been so hard without her physically there. Mary Lynne I love who you were in this world! Thank you for being such an important part of my life.

What a difficult and tear-filled loss, Mary Lynne passing unexpectedly and suddenly. 

What a sweet thing to remember and celebrate her. 

I will remember kindness, laughter, invitations to dinner, Christmas & Birthday cards to me and to my kids, curiosity, inclusion, warm questions, and a deeply human way of caring. 

I will remember the feeling of her welcome, coupled with John, and extended out to family. I will remember old stories of Saskatchewan and the Whetter Farm. I will laugh at “Auntie Hardnose” references (which turns out, was the smart thing from Mary Lynne). 

I will remember a loving, kind heart. I will remember a favorite and treasured Aunt. I will miss you Mary Lynne.

Mary Lynn was so much fun to curl against - even though she always won!  She was vibrant and alive, always smiling and having fun while always being the best she could be.
She is certainly being missed at our curling games - we can only imagine the loss you are feeling.  Our deepest sympathies are with you  and your family for the loss of Mary Lynn who was an amazing woman.

I first met Mary Lynne when I was a pre-teen and she and John were dating.  She always treated me as if I was a capable, grown up person, able to make my own decisions and choices –quite a stretch for me at that time!  We spent a lot of time with Mary Lynne growing up – both at our house in Ottewell and in Kerrobert.  One summer when Dennis, Trudy and Tenn and me were visiting Grannie and Grandpa I got to go and stay overnight at the Whetter farm with Mary Lynne.  Being a city kid, it was quite an eye opener.  I will never forget riding a big white horse – well maybe just being lead about the yard!  Also the huge Whetter garden.  Everyone was helping with the vegetable harvest:  picking, cleaning and storing so many vegetables.  I was put to work doing some small jobs, and that experience made a lasting impression on me about the value of growing your own food.  

Mary Lynne and John took and Tenn and me along on weekend trips to Kerrobert in the university days.  It was an introduction to freedom and responsibilities for us.  When Mary Lynne stopped by the house to see John in those days, I remember dropping everything so that I could visit with her.  She and John did a lot of studying at our house then.  That also left a lasting impression with Mary Lynne’s attention to detail and perfection sometimes frustrating John who wanted to finish studying and watch TV 😊. 

Mary Lynne was kind and generous.  One Christmas, when Michael and Erika were younger, she went to great lengths creating a whole collection of early French reading books for them at her school as a surprise Christmas gift.  More recently she was a fun curling competitor with Michael and Gaby, and Erika and Jeff, at the Saville Centre.

I will miss her warm smile, infectious laugh, and her selfless commitment to helping other people.  ~ Love, Wendy


I already miss Mary Lynne’s smiling face & bubbling personality around the curling rink.  She was a fierce competitor with such a great attitude towards her team mates & opposition whether she was in a tight game, losing or kicking butt (like she did most of the time). Mary Lynne was a great example of how to be humble and kind.  Oh how I wish I could see you on the ice again.

We are so very sorry to hear of your loss.  Mary Lynne was such a warm, kind person.  I always enjoyed seeing her at curling and golf. Her smile, her genuine delight in seeing people she knew,  and her enjoyment of friends and family were so lovely to see.  Sending sincere sympathy to John and all of the family.

Our deepest condolences to John and his family. We enjoyed curling with the Goulds over the years.  Mary Lynne was a wonderful lady that we had the privilege of knowing. 

MaryLynne was a character. I remember when she became pregnant with Derek. She sent a letter with clues to her friends. I hated “chain letters” and ignored it! Finally after a few weeks Diane called me to ask some leading questions and it finally dawned on me! I’m sure I was the last person to find out and we chuckled about that for a long time. I have fond memories of the many hours we spent together when I lived across the street and our children played together.  I’m still stunned with disbelief at MaryLynnes  sudden passing. I am so sorry for your loss John, Kristine, Derek and all your families. 

Dam you Mary Lynne, the world will never be the same with out you.
I have never met such a 5 foot bubbly person like her. Always said hi to you like she hadn't seen you for years even if it was only one week ago. Had the biggest smile and always made you feel good. She was such a positive person and brought out the best in you. Enjoyed curling with you over the years and I'm sure your teammates miss you dearly. Take care my friend and make sure the ice is keen when you get up there. We will curl again.

Dear John, Kristine, Nic, Derek, Ann and family

We were very saddened to hear about Mary-Lynn’s unexpected sudden passing.  Our most sincere sympathies are extended to all of you.

Mary-Lynn was a remarkable teacher with whom I had the privilege of working with.  She brightened everyday at school as she impacted our Grade One classes.  Her joy, happiness, enthusiasm, and eagerness strengthened our team.  She was an invaluable member of our school, and the Gold Bar community.

Students always remember their Grade One teacher.  Mary-Lynn gave them so many wonderful memories in her time with them. Who will ever forget those cute chicks and ducklings that she brought into class for the children to experience?!
Mary-Lynn was a very special individual who had time to listen to others and share her joy of life. The sparkle that she radiated and her bubbly personality will be always remembered and cherished.

We hope that the special family times and memories that you shared will help to support you through this difficult time.

I was so sorry to learn of Mary Lynne's unexpected death.  What a shock to you all.
I was just getting to know her through golf, and from many of her close friends.  She was such a fun, bubbly person to be around.  It was a privilege to know her.  She will be deeply missed by many.  Please accept my sincere sympathy.

Just one of our many accomplishments as a team.  Mary Lynne was an amazing curler and will be missed dearly as a good friend and teammate! 

So very sorry to hear about Mary Lynne, we will miss her so much at the Ellerslie Curling Club.  She was always so bubbly and friendly, a bright light that was taken from us way too soon.  Mary Lynne had a passion for curling, and she excelled in our sport.

So very sad to hear of Mrs. Gould's passing, such a beautiful human being.  I had the privilege of Mrs. Gould teaching all 3 of my daughters at Gold Bar Elementary and we all truly loved her.
 I will never forget what an impact she made not only on my Girls but also on myself! My family is privileged to have known you!

She loved Bruce and being out at the barn so much. All she wanted was to help me with him whether it was leading him back to his pen, giving him a brush, or just holding him while i was getting him ready. 

So sad to hear of Mary Lynne’s passing. Her smile, outgoing personality and caring nature will truly be missed.

When I came into the Whetter Family in 1989, Mary Lynn was one of my chosen “aunties” who always made me feel so welcome and part of the family.  I am so very lucky to have spent so much time with the Gould Family, especially when I was younger.  She always made our trips to Edmonton so fun…West Ed, family breakfasts, Christmas gift exchanges!  Being around Mary Lynn just made you happy…her positive nature, outgoing personality, and fun-loving ways just made it impossible not to have a good time when you were with her ❤️. 
I have been thinking of all her friends and family since I heard the news and am sending love, hugs, and prayers to each and everyone of you.  
Thank you Mary Lynn for loving me like one of your own, your zest for life that made everyone around you live life to the fullest too, and for the amazing memories that I will cherish forever.  ❤️

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you struggle with this sudden loss. 

My Grandma was one of the best people i knew. She brought kindness and joy to anybody around her. Even when things were hard she always found the positive outcome. I knew how kind she was when she rearranged her schedule just to come sit and help me with a math problem even if she couldn’t solve it, she would at least try. She was such a great supporter to me with my riding career and other activities. She thought so highly of me and wanted to see me succeed so much. Nobody could ever compare to how kind and gentle of a person she was. My amazing ‘Granny’ you will be greatly missed, especially by me. Love you to the moon and back. 

We are grief stricken to hear of Mary Lynne’s untimely passing. In curling circles, she was the epitome of what a curler or member of a curling family would be. She was bright, cheery, friendly, welcoming and sportsmanlike. We are all going to miss her.
