Emily Miriam Travers

It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Travers announces her passing on May 14, 2022 in Edmonton at the age of 82 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Willie and her children Rose (Mark) Vanner, Vince Bunz, William (Peggy) Travers and Nancy (Sonni) Travers. She will live forever in the hearts of her grandchildren Melanie-Emily, Katherine, Nicole (Jay), Madison, William, Tyler (Ashley), Ella (Grayson), Ashley (Tyler), Makayla, Austin, Darius, Melissa (Cole), Trennan, Kasen, Jared (Samantha), Elliot, Alex, Kyle, Lauren (Jared), Jayce Jolene, Frances, Aneeka and Aidan. She will be sadly missed by her siblings Joanne (Art) Jones, Irene (Ron) Nattress, Eliza Hilliar, Norma Burns, Ruby Burns, Marcia Burns, Joseph Burns, Russell (Charlene) Burns and Walter Burns. Emily was predeceased by her parents Betsy McLeod and Norman Burns, brother John Roderick, sister Bertha Twist, aunt Ruth Burns and uncle Rodman Burns.

Emily was a devoted wife, mother, granny and chapan who lived her life dedicated to her family. She found joy in keeping busy and worked hard for the majority of her life. Everyone who knew her, knows she loved to clean, even if you just cleaned it she will somehow get it cleaner. She had a great sense of humour, and enjoyed being silly with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gran loved to be outside and sitting in the sun. She will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

The family wished to express their appreciation to the staff of the University of Alberta Hospital, Grey Nuns Hospital and the Grandview Extended Care Home.

A funeral service to celebrate Emily’s life will be held at St. Faith’s Anglican Church 1725 93 Street Edmonton, Alberta on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Cremation entrusted to Memories Funeral Home after the service.

Memorial donations in Emily’s memory may be made to the charity on one’s choice
