It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donna on December 17th, 2024.
She was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey; and her parents, William & Mae Ingram (Wiley). She leaves behind her husband, Lester; son, Todd; and brother, Wes.
After attending Camrose Lutheran College, Donna completed her nursing education at the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton. What followed was an extensive career in the field of health care filled with a diverse range of functions and endeavors over a 35-year period. Donna travelled the world and in her early years as a Charge Nurse of Administration O.R. at the University of Alberta Hospital, she attended conferences in North America where she presented workshops for 3M Company Medical Products Division. She also worked at UCSF Mount Zion Medical Centre in San Francisco for 1 year. Donna received many service awards and carried a variety of titles such as, "Clinical Nurse Specialist- Surgical Suite", "Unit Supervisor, Operating Room ", and "Surgical Suite Patient Care Manager".
Donna sat as the active chairman of the Conference "Research and You" NRSAC (Nursing Research and Scholarly Activities Committee). She was awarded the $2,500 Drake/Thompson Surgikos Writing Award for her article, "Computers in the O.R."
After retiring from nursing at the University of Alberta Hospital, Donna continued to do nursing research on topics such as Diabetes amongst the Metis in northern Alberta.
She was a dear and wonderful person who will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation and directed to the Cross Cancer Institute.
A private family function will be held in honour of Donna. Cremation will take place with the interment held at a later date.
