Donna Mason (nee Magill)

We, the family of Donna Mason, are heartbroken to share that Donna passed away at the age of 81 on June 14, 2023 after a short battle with cancer following a recent diagnosis and complications from long COVID.

Donna was born to Mabel and Alexander Magill in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 15, 1942. She attended school at Saskatchewan School for the Deaf then later moved to Edmonton where she met and married David Mason. They married on July 8, 1967 and went on to raise three children.

Donna is survived by her husband David, her children; Sandra (Chris), Peter (Kelly), Colleen and her grandson Jack. She also as leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that she took great care to keep in touch with across Canada and as far away as Ireland and Australia. Donna was predeceased by her parents Mabel and Alexander, her twin brother Denis and his wife Ann, and her brother Ralph and his wife Margaret.

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered for her warmth, kindness, creativity, famous baking and overwhelming generosity as well as her deep love for family, her heritage, her many dear friends, and her tireless commitment and service to the Deaf community.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Hainstock’s Funeral Home located at 9810-34 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edmonton Association of the Deaf.
