Wanda Jean Johnson

Wanda Jean (Wendy) Collins Johnson passed June 19th, 2023 at Integris Health Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Wendy was born in Guthrie, OK, on August 10, 1943, to Delmer Leroy and Reba (Neighbors) Collins.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents and maternal grandparents, Robert L. and Susie Neighbors, and paternal grandparents, Irvin C. and Zola (McMahan) Collins, and her sister, Rebecca (Becky Collins) Peek.

Spending all but three grades in Edmond Schools, Wendy was graduated from Edmond High School and received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, and she taught English and Journalism at Putnam City (1964 - 1968 and 1969 - 1972) and Kingfisher High School from 1976 – 1991.

Her proudest accomplishments in life were the births of her two sons: Eric L. Johnson (married to Debbie Rector Johnson) and Adam W. Johnson (married to Carolyn Mowers Johnson) and becoming a grandmother to Sydney McKenna Johnson, daughter of Eric and Debbie, and Mason Cole and Colin Reed Johnson, sons of Adam and Carolyn.

Eric is an attorney for Hudson Cook, and spouse Debbie is a volunteer and sometime instructor for governmental programs. Adam is the Vice President for Student Services at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, and his wife is a School Counselor for Parkland Elementary School in Yukon, Oklahoma.

A visitation for Wanda will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 South Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034. A funeral service will occur Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
