Marian was a very fun loving person, she was a good cook and enjoyed feeding the whole gang and sending lots of leftovers home with everyone. Especially during the holidays there was always a huge stack of pies and goodies so she could make sure everyone had some to take home.
If she set her mind to something, she would find or make a way to get it done. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, gardening with papa and the grandkids. She was known as a squirrel because she loved picking up buckets of pecans and would spend the winter shelling them out and giving them away to family and friends. She loved her watermelon and made sure everyone had some when she bought one. Even at the nursing home she was giving out watermelon to everyone. She also enjoyed games such as canasta and Bingo with her friends and family. But what she especially loved was going to Galveston and taking her family with her. Oh and don't forget the fishing. She LOVED fishing so much.
She treated her friends like family and if you got a hug from Marian, you knew you had been hugged, squeezed tight and long and it was real. Not many people give out REAL hugs these days and she was one that made sure everyone knew she loved them.
More than anything she loved her family and took good care of them. She Was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She joined her mother Emily Gassaway, her daughter Deborah Drain, her husband Walter Young, her daughter-in-law Jill Johnson and many, many more in heaven. Especially all the amazing pets we all had.
She was Marian to some, "mar-I-an" to James Gassaway, "Sugar" to Papa and "Granny" to many, many more. She will be dearly missed. Her hugs and talks are what we all will miss the most.
God bless you granny. We love you very, very much.
