Karen graduated from Davenport High School in 1950. In 1956 she married Raymond Tomlinson and the couple had two children. In 1971 the family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma where Raymond had been relocated with Ralston Purina. Karen was active in volunteering with multiple organizations including the EARC and Girl Scouts with whom she served as Redlands Council President. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cross stitch and bowling. When Raymond retired Karen was able to visit him in Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Spain and several other locations while he worked as an independent contractor. Karen became a successful realtor working for Higgins Reality and Century 21 Mark V and later continued to work as a bookkeeper for a property management company. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Karen is survived by her sisters, Lorna Baugh of Newton, Alabama and Linda Hodoval of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Elaine Ross and husband Phil; son, Rod Tomlinson and wife Kelly; grandchildren: Rachael Pletan, Shawn Ross, Hayley Smith, Connor Tomlinson, and Taylor Tomlinson; and four great-grandchildren.
A grave side service is being planned with the date and time to be announced. Her family will be most appreciative of any donations made to Girl Scouts of America made in Karen’s name.
