Kamran “Kammie Boy” Michael Zahrai, 30, passed unexpectedly yet peacefully on March 29, 2022, at his home in Edmond. He was born September 3, 1991, in Oklahoma City, the son of Persian father Mohammad Saeed Zahrai and Oklahoman mother Francesca Kay (Schoech) Zahrai.
Kamran graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School, Class of 2010. After graduation, he received a full scholarship to OU, where he began his college education. He ultimately continued his studies at UCO part-time while working for his father’s civil engineering firm as an office assistant, junior draftsman, and computer technician.
Growing up, Kamran loved and excelled in school, especially in math, reading, and spelling. He was highly intelligent and very inquisitive, often asking questions that most ordinary people could not even begin to answer. He was also very active and athletic and enjoyed playing sports, his favorite being soccer. He loved animals and insects and would go out of his way to protect them at all costs.
Since his senior year in high school, Kamran battled with schizophrenia, but he managed to keep his genuine smile, quick wit, and loving nature despite his struggles. He was always more concerned with how others around him were feeling. Kamran loved to make others laugh and enjoyed providing comfort and happiness with big hugs and kisses. He had a strong mind and a memory that never failed him. He will always be remembered as our kind, sweet Kammie Boy.
He is survived by his father, Mohammad Saeed Zahrai of Edmond; mother, Francesca Kay Zahrai of Oklahoma City; older brother, Koorosh Zahrai and girlfriend Jin Jin of Edmond; older sister, Shayda Omoumi and husband Amir of Norman; paternal and maternal grandmothers of Iran and Edmond, respectively; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins located all around the world.
