John was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be most remembered for his generosity and infectious sense of humor. John was a true Texan, born and raised in Jacksboro – he was valedictorian of his high school class and went on to study at the University of Texas in Austin. There he received both his Bachelor’s degree and his Doctor of Jurisprudence and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
John had a passion for sports, he was nicknamed Mr. Basketball in high school and followed the NCAA March Madness every year. In his adult years, he played competitive league tennis and often traveled to regional tournaments in both singles and doubles with his wife Nancy. Later in life he enjoyed playing golf with friends at The Greens and Fairfax.
John was a dedicated public servant, spending more than 40 years with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a dependable colleague and always did his best to make the workplace entertaining.
His passing was peaceful after spending time with family on Father’s Day.
He is survived by son Reagan; daughters Elyzabeth and Missy; grandchildren Ellie and Johnny, and brother Reagan.
There will be a come and go visitation Friday, July 12th from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Baggerley Funeral Home.
