He was born on April 7, 1948 at Fort Sill Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. Gordon graduated from Lawton High School in 1966 and then from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelors of Science in Construction Management in 1971.
He was proud of his involvement in building shopping centers, country clubs, private prisons and his work on Oklahoma turnpikes for the OTA. He married his college sweetheart, Janet Baker Beard, on March 18, 1972. They enjoyed over 50 years of wedded bliss.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther James Beard and Inez Beard (Bjerke) and his youngest brother, Freddy Beard.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet Beard, are his daughter, Lisa Duhon and her husband John, his son Eric Beard and his wife An, and his daughter Jenny Jewell and her husband Adam along with his six grandchildren, Audra, Peyton, Jackson, Asher, Weston, and Dawson. He also is survived by his older brother Dwight Beard (Ike), younger sister Inez Lewis, and younger brother Marion Beard (Butch). He is lastly survived by coffee. His love for coffee grew while he was in college and worked a night shift at a hotel. He never passed up a chance for a boiling hot cup. He also was a lucky guy. He won a pontoon boat and a trip to the Daytona 500 off a single raffle ticket each…just trying to help a cause.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Gordon, Saturday March 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Keystone Adventure School and Farm, 19201 N. Western Ave. Edmond, OK 73012
