Fred C. Knight, Jr. 86, passed away June 10, 2014, in his Edmond, OK home, following a valiant struggle with bone cancer. Fred was born to Fred, Sr. and Letha May Knight on October 6, 1927, in Wilburton, OK. Upon graduation from Wilburton High School in 1945, he attended Eastern A&M College. He served in the United States Army, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and an Honorable Discharge, in 1947. He enrolled in Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater. While at A&M, Fred was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity, Alpha Zeta, Sigma Theta Epsilon, Block and Bridle, Aggie Society and Wesley Foundation. Fred received the designation of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. He returned to Wilburton, sharing in the cattle ranching business with his father, Fred, Sr. He married the love of his life, Sue Schnaithman on July 29, 1951. Fred was called to the Ministry and entered Southern Methodist University School of Theology, where he was a member of the Seminary Singers. He received the Master of Theology Degree from Perkins School of Theology. Upon graduation, Fred became an Elder in the Oklahoma Conference of the United Methodist Church. His service included Wesley Foundation Director at Tulsa University and Minister of several Methodist churches in Oklahoma. He retired from the Ministry in 1978. He was a Stockbroker with several Oklahoma City Companies and Director of Public Relations for AMS Multilevel Marketing Nutritional Company. His main roles in life were: Son, Brother, Husband,”Unc”, Uncle, Father, Father-in-law, Poppo, Great Poppo. Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue; daughter, Debbie Knight; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Cheryl Knight; son and daughter-in-law, David and Bridgette Knight; grandsons, Drew Knight and Trevor Knight; granddaughters, Michelle Holland, Abigayle Knight and Alberta Knight; great grandson, Chase Holland and great granddaughter, Hadley Holland. Sisters, Nelda Allers, Alyce Lerblance, Wanda Glenn and husband Henry, and Patsy Reser. Nieces, Mary Carol Dickin, Carol Bush and husband, Leo, Gayle Pomper, Karen Beare, Anne Lafitte, Kathy Enos, and husband Ted, Donna Quick, Patty Motlagh and husband Tony, Joan Shafer and husband, Paul; nephews, Bob McGee and wife Marilyn, Ross McGee and wife Kate, Chuck Allers and wife Greta, Richard Lerblance and wife Francis, John Schnaithman and wife Ellen, Chris Schnaithman and wife Michelle and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Thomas and Pauline McGee. A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Monday, June 30 at Church of the Servant, 14343 North MacArthur Oklahoma City, OK. Memorials may be made to the Ministry of Music Dept at Church of the Servant or a Charity of your choice. Fred spread the Gospel of Christ and will proclaim victory in death as in life through 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
