He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Brandt; two children, Ken (Judy), Manchester, CT and Mary Mowry, Edmond, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Melinda (Jim) Sullivan, Bristol, CT, David (Ann Marie White) Mowry, Fairport, NY, Alan (Kristen) Buch, Ashford, CT, Michael (Pamela) Mowry, Edmond, Oklahoma, Jennifer (Joseph) Baron, Norfolk, VA; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Cunningham Buch, three brothers Carl, Julius and Otto and a sister Helen Dickersbach.
Ernie graduated from Glenwood High School and, as a young man, farmed in southwest Iowa but soon used his talent for repairing electronic equipment to open his own radio repair shop in Glenwood, Iowa. He moved on to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and joined Collins Radio where he worked as an engineer on military and aviation electronics. Ernie met Jean in Cedar Rapids and they were married in 1941. After moving to Texas, Ernie worked for the Dallas Water Department.
Ernie and Jean retired to Osakis, Minnesota and subsequently to Edmond, Oklahoma.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 pm at Lighthouse Lutheran Church in Edmond, led by Pastor Pete Balaban. A graveside service will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
