Eric Scott Ranney

Eric Scott Ranney, 36, of Edmond passed from this life on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Services have been entrusted to the care of Baggerley Funeral Home and a public visitation will be held on Thursday from 1pm to 8pm with the family greeting friends from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home. A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Friday at 3pm at Vintage Church at 711 S. Kelley Ave.

Eric was born on July 4, 1985 in OKC. He was raised in Edmond by his parents Lisa and David Keith. He was a junir high wrestler and a longtime member of the Navy Sea Cadets in middle school and early into his high school career. He attended Edmond North High School where he graduated as a member of the Class of 2004. Eric was employed at IB’s on Waterloo Rd during high school and he made many wonderful friends there. Eric would later attend both the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University.

In 2006, he met the love of his life Coty LeeAnne Batchelor through a mutual friend. In 2007 they welcomed their first daughter Zoey and the family returned to Edmond. Eric and Coty were married in June of 2009 and later welcomed their second daughter Ariana. He had a passion for serving his community and had intentions of going into the Navy or serving in law enforcement, but life took him in a different direction. Eric was a talented project manager who spent many years working for Pitzer’s Lawn Care. He enjoyed his work and took great pride in his ability to imagine a landscape design and bring it to life.

Eric was a loyal protector who had a dynamic energy and an unmistakable ability to lead. He loved the OSU Cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching football and even took time to explain the game to his sister Mariah. Eric recently began riding his Harley Davidson, as it was an activity that he could share with Coty. They spent countless hours taking trips with their riding community. Riding really brought Eric out of his shell and the friendships and memories they made will last forever. Eric was a wonderful husband and father who was never happier than when he was surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, a proud father, a caring son, a protective brother, and a trusted friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Eric Ranney was preceded in death by his grandparents: Arthur Leroy Keith, Delores Adams, Gordon Royce Cole, Agnes Marlene Cole; his father Scott “Skye” Ranney.

He is survived by his wife and best friend Coty Ranney; two daughters Zoey and Ariana Ranney; parents Lisa and David Keith; siblings: Kandi Gorman and husband Dennis, Bradley Keith, and Mariah Mixon and husband Ryan; nieces and nephews: Julia, Dennis Jr., Mila, Kailee, Austin, Logan Gabriel, Ezekiel; sister in law: Casey Lim and husband Ernie and brother in law Joshua Anderson and wife Margaret; and Eric’s husky and pitbull mix Lebowski.
