On March 9, 2024, Lyle Brent Dahle passed away at the age of 72. A loving husband, father, grandfather and dedicated lifelong missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. (LB) Brent was born March 22, 1951 to Don and Jackie Dahle in Bonners Ferry, ID.
He grew up as a young child in Arco Idaho, moving to Las Vegas at the age of 11. His family was always the most important part of his life. He earned his Eagle Scout and developed a passion for missionary work, and many sports. He won State in both Football and Basketball both his junior and senior years. He was scouted by Henry Iba during his high school career in Las Vegas, he was offered a scholarship to play basketball at Oklahoma State University. During his college tenure, he left OSU to serve a full-time mission in Frankfurt, Germany for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he became fluent in German and found joy in teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and made many lifelong friends. Missionary work became Brent’s lifelong passion, and he continually finding joy in bringing people to Christ. He would carry an extra Book of Mormon around with him throughout his life to share with anyone he could teach.
Upon returning from Germany, he resumed playing basketball at OSU, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in International Business. Brent married the love and partner of his life, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on July 1, 1980. Brent spent their 43 years finding ways to celebrate their love, including last year when he celebrated their 50th month anniversary as a surprise coming home with 50 roses and a myriad of other special mementos. They felt privileged to have 5 wonderful, children, Jill, Heather, Jake, Ashley and Alleigh.
Brent loved helping and encouraging each of them, being a dedicated and enthusiastic father. Opa, as he was affectionately known as by his grandchildren, was his most cherished role in life. As “Opa” to 25 grandchildren, he had a lot of opportunity to find joy in raising his legacy and supporting their needs and goals. He was remarkably understanding and supportive to the evolution of each of his children and grandchildren’s personalities, goals and dreams, and had grand plans for each of them. His legacy lives on, as those impacts Opa made on each of their lives was remarkable and memorable.
Brent loved to help all those he came in contact with, whether in business or sports. He assisted in acquiring over 20 college scholarships for young aspiring athletes! Brent knew no stranger. He loved supporting others’ personal goals and encouraging, elevating and lifting those around him. His strong presence and commanding height gave him a platform to glean the attention of those around him, giving him the opportunity to share his insights. His smile and laughter was contagious to everyone in the room.
He is preceded in death by his Mother, Jackie and his Father, Don.
He is survived by: Wife, Suzanne Dahle, Children and Grandchildren: Jill Pierce and her children: Anna, Michael, John, Sarah, Keith, Irina, Calvin, Silas and Granddaughter: Borislava, Heather Gardner and her children: Jude, Isabella, Alex, Dudley, Oliver and Estelle, Jake Dahle and his children: Drew, Dax, JJ, Mikey and Cooper, Ashley Bolt and her children: Ricky, Carter and Jett, Alleigh Barrios and her children: Mia and Sofia and His siblings: Mike Dahle, Mark Dahle, Kari Burr and David Dahle, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Brent will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5326 Ellie Mae Dr, Guthrie, OK 73044. Interment will follow to Arcadia IOOF Cemetery.
